The role of the mentors
The Smart Project is a great opportunity for artists and educators to work with high school students which focuses on participatory learning in a college setting. Mentors are selected from a variety of artistic and cultural backgrounds. The program aims to use college students, graduate students, and/or artists from the local community. Members can choose to volunteer during an after school session once a week or work with students during the afternoon Saturday class. All participants must be able to work and connect with teenagers on a creative level. Artist Mentors can be college students, graduate students, and/or artists from the community. Emerging artists are preferred.
